I Endre Lund Eriksen nye kortfilm "Noras Ark" må 10 år gamle Nora trosse både ekstremvær og sin egen pappa for å redde sin beste venn – billen Billy. Filmen får premiere under Tromsø Internasjonale Filmfestival (TIFF) 19.-25.januar og er nominert til Tromsøpalmen.
Alvorlige temaer som klimaendringer, insektdød og biologisk mangfold er bakteppet for den 20 minutter lange kortfilmen, som forteller den eventyrlige historien om hvordan Nora må trosse både vær, klimaendringer og sin egen pappa, for å redde Billy og andre insekter.
En klimahistorie sett fra barns perspektiv
Handlingen foregår i Nord-Norge i nær framtid. Noras beste venn er billen Billy. Når klimaendringer fører til en stor flom og faren hennes fyller båten sin med dyr, starter Nora sin egen redningsaksjon: Hun vil redde alle insektene. Men pappa misliker disse ekle små krypene og sier nei. Derfor gjør Nora klar sin egen båt, Noras Ark. Slik oppstår en dyp konflikt mellom far og datter, som ikke bare setter forholdet deres i fare, men også hele det lille økosystemet om bord på Noras Ark.
Kreativt lag
Filmen er produsert av Tromsø-selskapet Fabelfjord i samarbeid med Damm It i Kroatia, som med Endre Lund Eriksens forrige kortfilm "Hjemmekontor" (2023). "Hjemmekontor" ble vist på festivaler verden over og vant en rekke priser.
Isak Gjertsen er filmens co-regissør og animasjonsansvarlige. I "Noras Ark" har Gjertsen videreutviklet den digitale cut-out-teknikken som ga ham svensk Guldbagge for Metropia.
Den nederlandske kunstneren Linde Faas er filmens art director og har også illustrert boka basert på filmen, skrevet av Endre Lund Eriksen. Boka fikk gode kritikker da den kom høsten 2025 og er solgt til Nederland.
Musikken er laget av Herman Rundberg (Manne), og filmens avslutningssang, Noras Sang, slippes samtidig med TIFF-premieren (se link lenger ned). 15 år gamle Viena Peltoperä Østvang gir Nora sin stemme i filmen og framfører også sangen.

Nominert til pris
"Noras Ark" vises i konkurranseprogrammet Films From The North og er dermed nominert til Tromsøpalmen. Filmen får også en egen visning på TIFFs utekino 19. januar – rettet mot filmens viktigste publikum: barn.
Uka etter festivalen drar Endre Lund Eriksen på turné med filmen og boka i Den kulturelle skolesekken, som har booket filmen til mange turnéuker landet rundt.
Filmen har norsk tale, og vil også bli tilgjengelig med engelsk og kroatisk tale.
"Noras Ark" er finansiert med støtte fra Norsk Filminstitutt, Arktisk Film Norge, Croatioan Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), Fond for lyd og bilde og Samfunnsløftet Sparebank1 Nord-Norge.

”NORA’S ARK” TO PREMIER AT TROMSØ INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
In Endre Lund Eriksen’s new short film Nora’s Ark, 10‑year‑old Nora must defy both extreme weather and her own father to save her best friend – Billy the beetle. The film will premiere at the Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF) January 19–25 and is nominated for the Tromsø Palm.
Serious themes such as climate change, insect decline, and biodiversity form the backdrop of the 20‑minute short film, which tells the adventurous story of how Nora must challenge the weather, the changing climate, and her own dad in order to save Billy and other insects.
A Climate Story Seen Through a Child’s Eyes
The story takes place in Northern Norway in the near future. Nora’s best friend is Billy the beetle. When climate change causes a major flood and her father fills his boat with animals, Nora launches her own rescue mission: she wants to save all the insects. But her dad dislikes these creepy little critters and says no. So Nora prepares her own boat, Nora’s Ark. This sparks a deep conflict between father and daughter—one that threatens not only their relationship, but also the fragile ecosystem aboard Nora’s Ark.
Creative Team
The film is produced by the Tromsø‑based company Fabelfjord in collaboration with Damm It in Croatia, as with Endre Lund Eriksen’s previous short film Home Office (2023). Home Office screened at festivals worldwide and won numerous awards.
Isak Gjertsen is the film’s co‑director and head of animation. In Nora’s Ark, Gjertsen has further developed the digital cut‑out technique that earned him a Swedish Guldbagge for Metropia.
Dutch artist Linde Faas is the film’s art director and also illustrated the book based on the film, written by Endre Lund Eriksen. The book received strong reviews when it was published in autumn 2025 and has been sold to the Netherlands.
The music is composed by Herman Rundberg (Manne), and the film’s end‑credit song, Nora’s Song, will be released simultaneously with the TIFF premiere (see link below). Fifteen‑year‑old Viena Peltoperä Østvang voices Nora in the film and performs the song.
Award Nomination
Nora’s Ark is screened in the competition program Films From the North and is therefore nominated for the Tromsø Palm. The film will also have a special outdoor screening at TIFF’s open‑air cinema on January 19—aimed at the film’s most important audience: children.
The week after the festival, Endre Lund Eriksen will tour with the film and the book as part of Den kulturelle skolesekken, which has booked the film for several tour weeks across the country.
The film is in Norwegian, and will also be available with English and Croatian dialogue.
Nora’s Ark is funded with support from the Norwegian Film Institute, Arctic Film Norway, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), the Audio and Visual Fund, and Samfunnsløftet SpareBank 1 Nord‑Norge.
